The trail to Slomnik or Veliki Slomnik (Great Slomnik) starts in a small settlement Košnica near Celje. From Celje head towards Laško and afer a 10 minute drive you will arrive at Košnica. Leave your car at the Košnica sign where also the steep path begins.

First 5 minutes are very steep hence the iron ropes, but beware as they are not as tight as they should be. You should consider taking your hiking poles with you. The steep part ends quickly and soon the view over Košnica opens.

Follow the trail through forest until you reach the ridge when you must turn right. At that point a spectacular view over Savinja river opens. 30 minutes to get to here.

From here on the path is pretty straightforward. In autumn there's a lot of mushrooms in the beautiful forest. After about 45 minutes you should reach the top. Nothing really special as there are no views. A registration box is here.

To get some views follow the path that brought you here for another 10 minutes. You get on top of a cliff with beautiful view over Šmohor, Liboje and Lower Savinja valley.

All in all a great hike.
