Špilk is the highest point of the ridge above Tuhinj valley and Black ditch (Črni graben). Our starting point is in a village Gabrje that is situated above Blagovica. To get to there from Maribor and Celje direction you must exit the highway for Trojane (where you must stop for some famous doughnuts). From Trojane just drive for a few minutes and you will get to Blagovica where you need to turn right and pass the church. Drive straight ahead until you see the sign for Gabrje where you need to turn right. Then just follow the road to Gabrje and park anywhere in the village. From Ljubljana exit for Blagovica and just follow the above directions.

Once you are parked, head on by the road and pass the turkey farm. The blazes will lead you by macadam road into the forest. After a while you will get to the grassy saddle with two lookouts. There’s also a monument raised in memory of fallen partisans.

The path turns right passing the pasture and after a while, right again into the forest. A few meters of steep path and in about 15 minutes you are on top of Špilk. Unfortunately there are no views here, but here’s a bivouac and a few benches.

You can enjoy the views on the before mentioned saddle where you can see Menina planina, Golčaj, Libmarska gora…

The whole hike takes approx. 40 minutes in one direction.
