There are many paths that lead to Krim. As we had just little time and the weather wasn't really nice we chose the path from Gornji Ig.

From Ljubljana it is a 15 minute ride to Ig and then just a couple of minutes to Gornji Ig (Upper Ig) where our strating point is. We left the car at the monument to fallen soldiers of WW II.

Head towards the houses and up the road and soon the marks will turn you left to the forest. The path is well marked and easy to follow. It is not one of the most interresting ones as there are virtually no views until the top. It goes through the forest all the time and the closer to the top you get the more rocky it gets. But nothing really demanding. You can use normal recreation shoes. But don't forget your trekking poles as they might be handy when descending.

At the top you can enjoy the view at Ljubljana basin and Ljubljana marshes. Julian alps are in the background to complete the magnificent picture (on the day of our visit it was foggy so we didn't really fully enjoy the view).

But we enjoyed our meals in the hut. We ate delicious mushroom soup and blood-sausages with sour cabbage, buckwheat žganci sprinkled with cracklings. Also jota was magnificent and apple pie.

As Krim was closed to public between 1970 and 1990 due to a Yugoslavian National Army base on top, you will come upon many signs don not approach, bunker's and shelters. There's also a huge TV transmitter on top.

It is not the most beautiful path but nevertheless we enjoyed it, especially the good food in the hut. It took us about an hour to reach the top.

Ps. On your way back to the car make sure you stop at one of the houses that have bee hives in front. The locals will gladly sell you homemade forest honey. A 1 liter jar will cost you 5€.
