Skala is a view point above Slovenske Konjice. It is interresting because of the secured climbing part that takes you right to the view point after about 7 minutes of climbing.
First of you have to get to Slovenske Konjice. Exit the highway and then drive straight to the center. You will see marks that will lead you off the main road. Leave your car at the church parking lot and then go straight up to the manor Trebnik where you can buy some homemade stuff and handpicked tea and herbs. From Trebnik go left and you will soon see the marks that will take you by the field. When you reach the forest the real path begins. As soon as we entered the forest we scared off some deer. The path is really steep so good shoes are necessary. After 40 minutes of huffing and panting you will reach the wooden stairs where you can get some breath. There's still 20 steep minutes to the wall. Once you reach the climbing wall a helmet would be nice to have. And some securing ropes but they are not necessary as the path is really very well secured. The climbing will take you just cca. 7 minutes but nevertheless be careful. Once you reach the top there's a bench where you can rest and enjoy the view over Slovenske Konjice. When you've had enough follow the up and right trail. When you come to the crossroad take the »Konjice 50 minutes« path that is not so steep and will take you to the starting point over the castle above Konjice. If you want to go straight to the car take the path down. But I don't recommend it as you won't profit any time. After 30 minutes of gentle hiking you will reach the Konjice castle from the 12th century. A spectacular view over Slovenske Konjice opens from the castle walls. Go back to the macadam path as some 20 minutes of descend still remains. When you reach the town pass the cemetary and then turn right. Follow the street to its end and you will come to the church where you left the car. A beautiful hike that has everything: hiking, climbing and sight seeing. All in all it will take 2 and a half hours. |
