Olševa is a very beautiful mountain situated in the Slovenian Karavanke alps. It's ridge stretches between Pavlič saddle and Sleme saddle that connects it with Raduha which is already a part of Kamnik – Savinja alps. In the slopes you will find a historic cave Potočka zijalka and our path goes right by it.

First you have to come to a small village of Sv. Duh. On Ljubljana – Celje highway exit for Logarska dolina (Logar valley) and drive all the way to it except you don't turn left into the valley but go straight ahead in the direction of Pavličevo sedlo (Pavlič saddle) into the Matkov kot (Matkov corner). The road zigzags uphill and when you reach the sign for Podolševa turn left. You are on the vista road as some spectacular views over Loarska valley and Kamnik – Savinja alps open. You will pass an iron mineral water spring so take a few minutes to try it (sign “Kisla voda”). The road also passes some mountain farms that offer good homemade eco food. At Žibovt (the first farm when you turn to Podolševa from the main road) for example they have very good homemade yogurt.

When you get to a village Sv. Duh (you will see a beautiful little church of Holy Ghost) you can park by the road. The blazes will take by the farm uphill into the forest. The first part of the path is really boring as it is rooted up by farmers when dragging wood out of the forest. But it is also interesting in a way as you cross Austrian – Slovenian border. The path is pretty steep at some parts so take your time.

In 40 minutes you will reach historic cave Potočka zijalka. The found tools of pre-historic men here. Explore the cave and enjoy the view as the best part of the hike awaits.

Firstly from the cave are steel ropes and wedges as you must get on top of the cave. 7 minutes and you’re over with the secured part. The path goes mildly up and at some point it goes steeply down and some steel ropes are there to help you. The path crosses the ridge of Olševa and on a clear day you can see all the way to Triglav and Košuta. Sooner than you know you’ll be on top. Enjoy the view over Raduha, Strelovec, Krofička, Ojstrica, Planjava, Brana, Turska gora, Mrzla Gora.

The whole hike shouldn’t take you more than 1h 45 minutes. And is one of the most beautiful hikes in Slovenian mountains by our humble opinion.
