This is a beautiful hike for a whole family to a 700 year old tree above Solčava. The tree is tisa (yew) and it is said among locals that is might me even older than stated.

First you have to come to Solčava. From the highway Ljubljana – Maribor exit for Logarska dolina (Logarska valley) and then just follow the main road. Solčava is the last settlement before the valley. You can park at the local market. You will see a bridge and a road by the river going up and the first sign for Tisa (yew).

The whole path is very well marked so there's no chance you will get lost. For the first couple of meters follow the mentioned road and after a while pass the house into the forest. You will soon cross the main road onto macadam. Follow it pass the farm and into the forest. From here on the hike goes through beautiful woods and in winter you may see some game.

In about 40 minutes after you left Solčava you will reach the ridge with the yew. There's also a renewed old house up there and if you're lucky you might get some tea.
