This is, by my opinion, the easiest way to the queen of the Kamniško – Savinjske Alps Ojstrica, suitable also for children, in companion of experienced adult, of course.

If you are coming from Celje / Mozirje side, you must turn left in the village Luče at the sign Podvolovljek and follow the road. Be alert as you must turn right at the sign Podvežak. From there you must follow the signs “Korošica” or “Planina Podvežak.” The road is in really bad condition, especially after rain, so you don’t want to drive any fancy car here. As you must drive really slow, you get the feeling that you are driving forever. Be patient. Leave your car at the parking lot by the old wooden hut on which you will see sign Korošica.

First few minutes you are walking through the woods. Soon you come to a meadow Podvežak, don’t be surprised if you get in close contact with a cow around here. From here we continue straight up towards the woods.

Soon you will find yourself in dwarf pines that will continue with few exceptions through most of the path.  At some parts the path is all rocky, going up at down. You will see an abyss now and then, be careful at such points. The path is really beautiful, make sure you stop now and then to drink and enjoy wild nature.

After an hour and a half or so you will get to the point where you will see a big grassland, and a big hut. That’s Kocbek’s hut on Korošica. From that point you have another 20 – 30 minutes of easy walking to there. Don’t forget to say hi to the sheeps that pasture here. You will also see Ojstrica on your right. When you get to Korošica take a rest, drink a tea or a sip of borivničevec (spirit made out of blueberries). Don’t be surprised or frightened if you see a military helicopter above the hut. It is just delivering the goods.
When you had enough rest you can start “climbing” towards Ojstrica. It’s a rocky, slippery path, containing mostly little stones and rocks. Be careful not to slip.
From Korošica to the top is a good hour, maybe hour and a half. Can’t say that it’s my favorite way to Ojstrica, but am pretty sure it’s the easiest. The view on the top is worth every  second it took you to get there, though. Way down is a bit faster, but not very much, as you must be even more careful not to slip than on your way up.
All in all, the hike takes around seven to eight hours, depending on how much you rest. You will feel a big relief when you take your mountain shoes (they are necessary) off at the car.  A great not too demanding Sunday trip for those who like to walk. Enjoy it.
