| Brana (2253 m) from Okrešelj |

With it's unique shape, Brana »guards« Kamniško Sedlo on the right, looking from Logarska valley. Starting on Okrešelj one must take the path towards Kamniško Sedlo, just behind the Frischauf hut. For the first 20-25 minutes path goes through the woods and bushes. Soon you come to an open plain with rocky walls around you. For some time it's a zig-zag steep trail that ends at the wall. A safety helmet is highly reccommended as falling rocks are not so rare here. I suggests that you are cautious on your way back down. Right from the start you have a help of pitons and iron ropes which gives the whole thing a bit of adventures feeling. Soon you see why there are so many falling rocks at the entrance to the wall. The path is rocky and can be quite slippery, so good shoes are essential here. Some take this path too lightly which can quickly resolve in accident. Path is marked as »demanding« and there's a reason to it. But if you pay attention to where you put your foot there shouldn't be any problems. Don't hassitate to take a break and enjoy in great views. There's plenty of them, you get a rough idea of how wild nature can be. After two - two and a half hours (depends how fast you are or if you have kids with you) you come to Kamniško Sedlo, a very popular destination as you can reach it from Kamnik side as well (some 3–4 hours). It's a sin not to take a break and enjoy magnificent views over entire Logarska valley. You are forgiven if you do that on your way back. There's a big hut with selection of hot meals that are strongly reccommended. Offer varies on the time of the day, can't expect to choose from too much dishes in the late afternoon. But something hot is always there for you. From Sedlo you have an hour more to Brana. It looks that it will take you less, but those are high hopes. The path is rocky and goes around. More pitons and iron ropes at some points wouldn't do harm. If you take your child with you it's more than a good decision to leave him/her in the hut on Kamniško Sedlo. Believe me, I learned it the hard way. But if your kids are agille it wouldn't hurt to tie them to yourself. There is some light climbing at some points and some pretty narrow tracks. Can't be too cautios there. Assuming you have a clear weather, views on the top are more than worthy the effort. Way down is a bit faster, but not significantly. Zig-zag path that starts when you come from the »falling rocks wall« between Sedlo and Okrešelj proves to be a bit of a pain as you already have some hours of hiking behind you. All in all with all the stops the whole hike takes around 5 – 6 hours. Be sure to have plenty of water with you. There's never enough of it in summer mountain hikes. |
